Progress with Elegant Empire

So, I got Paige, my busy college student, to slow down enough to model my elegant empire sweater for me.  It has been moving along nicely after several missteps. It's one thing messing up a sock and unraveling it, and quite another messing up and having to unravel twenty rows of almost two hundred stitches, but I'm hanging in there. The construction is really different, knitting the left side, sleeve and back; and then the right side, sleeve, and back. I'm not entirely sure that I see where this is going, but I think I get it.

As happens every year, knitting has become all the more attractive to me since my time for it is dwindling away. I have a nice schedule at school, but have greedily agreed to teach two online college course again, so I have a lot of grading to do each week. I'm OK as long as I don't get sick. Come to think of it, my throat is a little scratchy. Better go take a couple of Vitamin C and go to bed...after one more row.

Is the sweater seamed down the middle of the back? That's the only way I can envision what you described. It'll be interesting to see it finished.

LOVELY blue... and such interesting construction.. Will be looking forward to seeing how this turns out! We've had sore-throat/cold false alarms for two weeks now... kids are back to school and the germs are rife... LOL! Wishing you all the best for the new school year. :o) ((HUGS))

I clicked on your link to look at the pattern, and was very tempted .... but I have so many things on my to do list I resisted! We both thought we were coming down with the cold (Malcolm's sister was choked with it last time we saw her) but we seem to have recovered - I put it down to killing the germs with wine!

So cool - the color is really pretty.

Isn't it funny? The less time I have the more I knit, too. I sneak it in everywhere (at a red light).

Happy teaching!!

I love the color of your sweater and am anxious to see the finished product. Knitting always calms me and I would like to think it's one of the things that keeps me sane !

It's always got to be one more row. But then it turns into several more rows and I reallised I'm running late. Hope the throat doesn't get sore.

It looks good to me, but what would I know, I'm kind of a beginner.

Keep going..I can't wait to see the finished project.

I love that color for the sweater and can't wait to see your progress!

Ugh, illness really does upset the delicate balance, doesn't it? And it doesn't even need to be you, just someone in the family. Why can't it be summer all year long? ;)
