Just a Little Knitting

I always have a hard time getting motivated in August. It's always mercilessly hot, and I know that there's really no chance for a break for at least another month. That means that I usually don't accomplish much knitting during August. I'm running true to form pretty much this year. I did knit this pair of fingerless gloves on the long trip home from Humboldt County a couple of weeks ago. It's a free pattern from The Giving Flower. I'd kind of forgotten about it. I think she posted it like three years ago. I altered the cable a little bit, but I really like her directions for the thumb gusset. I also loved this yarn.  I got it from Rani last spring. I think it was from Woolgirl yarns, and I really liked working with it. I may even have enough to make another pair.

Yawn! It' just after seven o'clock, and I'm about ready for bed. I've been trying to go to bed early all of this week since I started school on Monday, but I'm still pretty wiped out. Oh well, I'll adjust.

Very Pretty! I like the effect of the yarn too. Hats off as well because I don't think I'd be knitting in that heat.

VERY pretty... and pink too! ;o) Love the delicacy of the twist/cable. Wishing you all the best for the new school year! ((HUGS))

Thanks for reminding me about this pattern. I queued it years ago and forgot about it!

I don't think I have any yarn that will make mine as beautiful as yours!

Love these mitts. I may have to knit a pair for my daughter's September birthday.

These are lovely - I just about need mitts on my morning walks, now that there is a bit of a chill in the air!

Um. I gave that yarn up?! It's so pretty! And I love pink. UGh. I am happy, though, that it found a good home. I have WAY too much yarn . . . still.

The pattern is so pretty! I think I'll have to check this out. This had 'holiday gifts' written ALL over it.

I SO enjoyed your post about Ferndale and Eureka! And the lyses there. I'm going up the end of Sept to Arcata for my husband's high school reunion.

Did you wave at my ancestors in the old cemetery?

MMmmm, I love the pattern and the yarn. There are going to be some mitts like that in my future.

Great mitts! And I love the colour :)
We're adjusting to early ornings here too. The kids had their first day at school/kindergarden on Wednesday. And having to get up at 6 in the morning makes me so tired at night. I haven't read a book in days... During summer I can lay in bed reading knowing I don't have to get up early ;)

Nice gloves! The color is really nice and the cable gives it a little something extra. Yes, it truly has been mercilessly hot, and knitting anything fuzzy is just not possible. Hang in there!

I hope you have a good start to your school year!
