Sad Socks

Well, I'm finished with my paraphernalia socks. This pattern wasn't difficult at all, and I really like the cable, but I had endless trouble with the second sock. I have a bad habit of making minor changes in  sock patterns and then forgetting exactly what I've done by the time I'm knitting the second sock. I honestly can't count how many times, I unraveled and re-knit the heal of the second sock. You'd think I'd learn, but I'll probably do it again, but maybe next time, I'll at least write down my changes.

I'll just blame the heat. It's been over 100 degrees for the last week, and it's just zapping my energy. We'll head up to my parents' house in Northern California in less than two weeks, and we won't mind if it's foggy and cold the entire time. I really would be happy to bundle up and sit by the beach knitting something warm.

The socks are beautiful. I make changes also and think I'll remember....NOT!

It's finally cool in Vermont. The 95+ weather is too much for me.

I do that all the time! They look great, though.

Your socks are beautiful -- I LOVE the cables. You've hit on exactly the reason why I like to knit socks and sleeves two at a time. I change things too, and even if I write stuff down, it still doesn't work correctly!

Even if I write down my changes, I usually lose the slip of paper I wrote on.

Pink cabled socks will be perfect for sitting in the sand and watching the fog roll in while you knit more socks.

OMG! I can't tell you how many times I've done this!!! And every time I think, "OK. 24 stitches here, 42 there. I'll remember that. That's easy." A month later I have NO idea where I am with the second sock and can't remember a thing!!!!! OH, I feel your pain.

But. the socks look awesome! Perfectly perfect. No one will no if there are slight differences except you.

I LOVE those socks! and will definitely be checking out the pattern. I usually scribble my changes on a pad of paper while knitting and then type them into Rav comments on the project page. I can't tell you how many times that's saved me.

How you can knit in that heat is beyond me though. Have you got the AC cranked up to 60? Think of the rest of us suffering in the heat while you're wrapped in fog, will you?

The little ways we sabotage ourselves can be frustrating. Glad you worked it out and ended up with a great looking pair of socks!

This is why I always have a notebook beside me when I'm knitting! I mark each row as I knit it, then when I do the second one, I cross off each row!! I love the socks - I need to knit some for the winter. If only you could send me some of your heat - 20 degrees would do!!

I think we missed all the California heat while on vacation. We were someplace extremely warm (and with lots of mosquitoes) so we didn't have it any better. Still, I'm glad it cooled off before we got back.

The socks look great, even if they were a pain.
